"Taking CA 1 was the single best thing I did to prepare myself for moving onto a sailboat! I dreamt of sailing around the world but didn’t have much experience other than being a charter guest. The Cruisers Academy four-day course was the perfect introduction to sailing and I gained the practical knowledge and tools to be a safe and competent crew member. Aside from basic sailing theory, I also learned about weather and trip planning, differences between day sailing and cruising, and most importantly, how to be a valuable member to any boat. A few months after the course I joined a sailboat leaving on a circumnavigation and now have over 1,300 nautical miles of sailing experience and am looking forward to my first ocean crossing!"

"The Cruisers Academy sailing instruction is outstanding! Alex and Brady are exceptional instructors with unparalleled depth of experience. The CA-1 course that they’ve designed and teach leverages their experience and their friendly, supportive, and encouraging teaching style to get you confidently sailing. Not to mention that Lake Tahoe in the summer is beautiful. I can’t wait for CA-2 and future offerings and a chance to learn more from the Cruisers Academy staff."

"I loved the 4 day CA1 class from cruisers academy. Tahoe is such a nice place to learn sailing and all our instructors, Blue, Brady and Sean, were awesome. They are all super knowledgeable, took time to explain everything in great detail, answer all our questions and are just generally great people to be around. We were three people plus one instructor on our boat, so everyone got plenty of time to practice the different positions and gain experience and confidence. I would definitely recommend taking this class to get into sailing and I cannot wait for more classes to be added."

"I took part in the first Cruiser's Academy course in Sausalito, CA, and loved every second of my experience. It was my first time sailing. Both Brady and Blue did a terrific job teaching me what I needed to know. They're both so much fun to be around! I got a great taste of life on a boat and learned SO much. It's clear that both are sailing masters. A life changing experience that I can't recommend enough."

"Enjoyed every moment of my intro to cruising course! You can spend an entire lifetime gaining sailing knowledge through books, tests, and real world, hands-on experience. You can't really get better real world experience than sailing with Brady and Blue given their history of adventures. I learned a ton on the trip and they were more than willing to answer any and all the questions I had. We were able to improve skills for sailing around the bay and coastal cruising. I got to spend my first night anchored in Drake's Bay (a first), and the next night anchored in Sausilito for the Boat Parade. What more could you ask for? They were extremely kind and competent and I was able to make memories that will last a lifetime. They will go out of their way to make you feel at home and a part of the crew for your days on the water, and are the same cool people you hope they would be if you have followed their sailing adventures over the years. I highly recommend doing this if you have the opportunity and it was worth every penny."

"I hit a phase in my life where I needed a bit of adventure as well as slowing things down a bit. I found Cruisers Academy and connected with Brady and Blue. From the start their vibe and sailing knowledge gave me all the details I needed to sign up for a week long Mexico crossing, from Loreto to San Carlos. A once in a lifetime experience with a knowledgeable and down to earth team. 10/10 across the board, I highly recommend if you are even remotely interested in the magic that sailing the open ocean brings."

"I had a great experience on my week-long Women-Only sailing course with Captain Heather. I had already taken several ASA courses and wanted to solidify my knowledge and get more hands-on experience without my husband on board. Heather is a badass captain with a lot of experience. She was very patient with the new sailors and gave thorough instructions on everything from engine maintenance to sail handling, to safety in emergency scenarios. We learned how to use both navigation technology as well as paper charts. We got hands-on experience anchoring, even in the dark. Our trip in the Sea of Cortez was challenging because there was no wind that week, but we made the best of it and still worked with the sails some. We also did a little land exploring of the islands in the area and got to snorkel a wreck. Overall I would do it again and recommend it to other women. I gained a lot of confidence and Heather will be a great resource for me in the future. Plus, Lintika is a beautiful boat!"
